Yard Sale A Great Success
Betty McMillen, Chairman
The Historical Society's Yard Sale last month was a rousing success, thanks to all you members and friends who donated the great treasures, junk and stuff for resale. We made over $1700!
Our tables were piled high with wonderful bargains for the shoppers to purchase. We had the inside of the church building full and the patio as well. We made a lot of folks very happy with the great buys . . . they were carrying things out by the armloads. One funny incident happened when a couple of shoppers made the mistake of leaving their good bikes by the gate . . . oops, they got sold by mistake . . . we'll have to pay those folks back.
Our hard working crew of volunteer salesmen was just great and they were having a ball making deals with the shoppers. It was a fun filled two day sale and we were all very tired then it was over. Nowadays some of us are wearing our new outfits we purchased and bragging about our great bargains.
Even though we sold a lot of stuff we still had some leftovers that were donated to the Lakeside Christian Help Center, Goodwill and McAllister Institute. Some antiques went into our museum; some collectibles went into our gift shop. Plastic went into the recycle bins and nothing was trashed . . . we are true recyclers.
Funds from the event will be used for our continued preservation efforts. Thanks everyone for your help!
