JOSEPH B. PIGNATELLI, 87
Joe Pignatelli, one of our Life Members, was born in San Diego May 18, 1917. He attended San Diego schools graduating from San Diego High School in 1935. Upon graduation, he started working for the San Diego Gas and Electric Company, working himself up to Supervisor. Having worked 45 years, he retired in 1980.
Joe married Carol Swink in 1939 and on July 15 of this year, they celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
Joe served in the Navy during World War II. For many years he supported youth baseball by coaching teams in Little, Pony and Colt leagues in Lakeside and in El Cajon. Because of active participation in school and community groups he was presented an Horary Life Membership in California P. T .A. by the El Capitan High School P .T .A. He was also a Life Member of the Lakeside Historical Society.
Joe enjoyed golf, boxing, gardening, family and attending Charger, Padre and Aztec games. Joe passed away in El Cajon where they had very recently moved. He and Carol had built their home 55 years ago and raised their boys in Lakeside.
Survivors include his wife Carol; sons James of Tucson and Robert of Lakeside; daughters-in-law Dyan and Leigh; four grandchildren, Roberta Rosse, Christine, Mellisa, Michelle Pignatelli; Bobby (grandson by marriage), and one great granddaughter Noel Rosse; and several nieces and nephews.
Many will sincerely miss Joe.
Inurnment was at Fort Rescans National Cemetery, Point Loma.
