I would like to begin by expressing our thanks to Jim Karasek for his generous donation of ten of his beautiful paintings.  He is a longtime Lakeside resident and artist.  Through the years, Jim has been a very active volunteer in our community.  During the restoration of our Olde Community Church, he was there lending a helping hand.  His pictures are on exhibition in the History Center and are available for purchase.
  Next, I want to remind all of our members that the annual Hometown Reunion and dinner is a little more than a month away.  It will be on October 27th in Meyer Hall at the Lakeside Community Center.  Be sure to mark your calendar.
  Finally, I'm pleased to announce that our County Supervisor, Diane Jacob, awarded our Historical Society a $10,000 grant on August 23.  It was a wonderful surprise because we did not apply for this grant.  From all of us, thank you very much Supervisor Jacob.
