committee to look into moving the museum to town, closer to the Olde Community Church and the History Center. The Finance Committee also has been activated to guide the funding.
Some of the locations we have looked in to are: Cecil's Café, the Lakeside Town Hall (old movie theater), Victorian house (Pink) at 10050 Maine Avenue, the Sunlight Press Building, the old Burchard Candy Store on Laurel and River Streets, the old school building on Prospect and Woodside, the "Yellow house" next door to the church, the Manse, and several store fronts on Maine Avenue.
This will be a major project for us, but very worth while, as we want to be able to share our history with the community and visitors. On a regular basis, this new facility would be available to tell the story of Lakeside and our East County Heritage. We hope the membership agrees.
The Museum Committee welcomes your comments and input to help us make decisions on this project. Mail: Museum Committee, Lakeside Historical Society, 9906 Maine Avenue, Lakeside, CA 92040. Telephone: (619)561-1886. E-mail: info@lakesidehistory.org. Or, visit our Webster at www.lakesidehistory.org.
