JOAN BURNETT, 64

  Joan, loving wife of Lowell, mother to David and Craig, and sister of James Merk. A native of Portland, Oregon, Joan passed away on September 27, 2005 in San Diego at the age of 64.
  She was employed by the Santee School District for 25 years as a secretary, and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, Lakeside Historical Society (Life Member #450), Blossom Valley Riders and Gardeners as well as the Lakeside River Conservancy. She enjoyed travel and was very active in women's and youth soccer.
  Contributions to the Lakeside River Conservancy at 11769 Waterhill Rd., Lakeside, CA 92040 are appreciated. Memorial Services were held Saturday, October 1, in La Mesa. She will live on in our memories forever.

PEGGY JOYCE KUHNER, 72

  Peggy passed away September 9, 2005. She was born June 24, 1933, in Los Angeles and was an accountant for a certified public accounting firm. She was a member of the Lakeside Historical Society (Life Member #199)  and the Lakeside Garden Club.
  Survivors include her daughter, Donna Martens of Lakeside; son, Donald Kuhner of San Diego; stepfather, Harold Hokkane of Ramona; and two grandchildren.
  Services: none announced.

MARGARET LANGDON

  Margaret was an educator, a linguist and a good friend to the Barona Band of Mission Indians. She helped in their language program and was an essential part of creating the first Barona Dictionary under the direction of tribe elders. Margaret later helped start the second edition and handed the project over to her student Dr. Amy Miller.
  A Memoorial Service in her honor was held at the Barona Valley Ranch Resort Convention Center on November 12, 2005.

SAMUEL WHITLOCK WOODS, 82

  Sam Woods of Lakeside died October 15, 2005. He was born on October 25, 1922, in Kansas City, MO, and was a service manager for an automotive agency.
  He served in the Navy during World War II and was a past president of the Classic Thunderbird Car Club of San Diego. Sam was also a longtime active member of the Lakeside Historical Society.
  Survivors include his wife, Irene Woods; daughter, Cheryl Busby of Placentia; sons, Terry Woods of Henderson, Nev., and Samuel Woods of Lakeside; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
  Services graveside with military honors, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma.
  Arrangements: Heath Funeral Home.
