In Loving Memory
EVELYN MARIE BARKDULL, 88
Evelyn was born in Nebraska on February 1, 1915 and passed away October 4, 2003. She married Tom Barkdull and lived in San Diego during the war years. In 1947 they moved to a home on Julian Avenue with their three children and dog Boots. One of their earliest affiliations was the Catholic Church and they helped build Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lakeside. The Lakeside Kiwanis Club was chartered in 1947, Tom was elected president in 1950. They participated in many community activities. Both Tom and Evelyn were members of Lakeside's chapter of SPEBSQSA, Inc, the Lakeside Chamber of Commerce, and the Lakeside Historical Society. In 1970 they moved to South Dakota. Mr. Barkdull died in 1990.
Survivors include one son, Tom Jr.;two daughters, Chloe Rauch and Nancy Swanson; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Leo of Hemet; a sister, Vivian La Riviera of Colorado.
Services were held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on October 17, 2003.
ADA ANN FITCH STEWART
Ada graduated from Grossmont High School in 1933 -- she lived on Los Coches Road at the time. From 1934 to 1936 she packed oranges at the El Cajon Packing Company.
After getting married, they moved to Bountiful, Utah. Ada Raised four children, then worked a nurse in Bountiful until her retirement. She traveled extensively in Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, and many other places. Ada was LHS Life Member #368.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet and Judy of Alberta, Canada; and one son Harold.
