Members: We Need Your Help

During our Speedway Centennial Celebration in October we are going to have a silent auction to raise money for the Lakeside Historical society.  If you have any items you would like to donate for the auction, or if you know of a business that would like to donate something, please contact Pennie McMahon at (619) 443-4616 or Barbara Hogue at (619) 447-6593.

Thank You Western Days Breakfast Sponsors and Volunteers!
Janis Shackelford

This year's Western Days Breakfast was wonderfully successful. We had "re-discovered" that the church pews might be stacked in the back of the sanctuary, opening up most of the church and fellowship hall. This allowed seating for 100 at a time with plenty of room for the waitresses and guests to move around. Chris Herzog, Betty McMillen and Janis Shackelford set up the chairs and tables with red checked tablecloths. Betty brought western table decorations and Janis brought roses from her garden. The cooks extraordinaire were Jean Angus, Molly Burton, Carol Clarke, Rose Gilbert, Mary Neal, Nancy Nowka, Barbara Pruyne, Marcie Rice and Janis Shackelford. The waitresses were Barbara DeYoung, Chris Herzog, Betty McMillen, Sally Nelson, and Margaret Tuitel.
After the parade ended Mary Neal, Barbara De Young Nita Padilla, Margaret Tuitel and Janis Shackelford took on the kitchen clean-up chores while Chris Herzog, Elaine Brack, Betty McMillen, and Gordon Shackelford returned the fellowship hall and sanctuary to order. If I missed anyone, please accept my apologies.
Ester and Norman Croteau organized the lovely arts and crafts show in the front garden. Nita Padilla sold LHS t-shirts and other items from the store. Dixie and Ken Lansdowne used their artistic talents to create a float for the parade which highlighting several Lakeside historic landmarks. If I missed anyone, please accept my apologies.
Last, but equally important are the members of the LHS who sponsored the food items served at the breakfast as well as general event sponsors. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Smith sponsored the Ham and Orange Juice; Hilliker's Ranch Fresh Eggs provided the Eggs; Bill and Catherine Hansen sponsored the Biscuits; Janis and Gordon Shackelford sponsored the Sausage Gravy, and the Lakeside Veterinary Hospital sponsored the Hash Brown Potatoes. General event sponsors were the Miss Lakeside Pageant, Larry Kaserman, and Mark and Rhonda Turvey. Again, a heartfelt thanks to everyone!
