Museum Memo . . .
To All Society Members
Museum Committee
After many weeks and long hours of work, the inside restoration of the Manse is almost complete. The walls are shinning with fresh paint, new crown molding is in place, and even a plate rail is installed in the dinning room. The floor is gleaming bright with their two coats of polyurethane, and new light fixtures sparkle from the ceiling. Even though we've spent over $30,000 dollars and the museum is now 95% finished, we still need your help.
The kitchen counter, sink and under-counter cabinets need to be rebuilt. And one bedroom door needs a second coat of paint. The bathroom is beautifully wallpapered thanks to Betty McMillen, Barbara Whitlock and Chris Herzog. But, the toilet and basin need to be reset in order for the room to be completed.
We will start furnishing our "new" museum with donated items this month. Soon we will need docents to interpret and help visitors understand the importance of Lakeside's history.
Esther Croteau's daughter, visiting from Wisconsin, has generously volunteered to etch a design and reset the glass in the kitchen's cupboard doors . . . what a wonderful surprise for us!
If you can volunteer your help in anyway -- such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, etc. - please call Cathy Hansen at 561-5859, or Barbara Whitlock at 561-2028. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Please spread the word to friends and neighbors about the Lakeside Historical Society's beautiful new museum featuring our town's colorful history.
