Woody died June 24, 2001 after a long illness.  He and his wife, Dolly, owned and operated Woody and Dolly's Restaurant on Woodside Ave. for many years.  He started the Chili Cook-off and chaired the event for 16 years.  They were Life Members of the Lakeside Historical Society.
  A "Celebration of Life", sponsored by the Lakeside Lions Club was held at the VFW Hall July 13.

  Garold was born Aug. 16, 1932.  He came to Lakeside in January of 1944 with his parents, Ottie and Sylvia Kursave and his twin sisters, Marjorie and Martha. The next month they opened the Lakeside Theatre and operated it for about 32 years.  It was a family affair with Garold manning the projector and Martha and Marjorie as usher and Pop-corn sellers.

  Garold married Carol Christian from a long-time Lakeside family in 1958 and they have continued living in Lakeside.  Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Kevin and Randall of El Cajon; two sisters, Marjorie Smith and Martha Hess of Lakeside.
  Memorial services will be held at the Olde Church, 9906 Maine Ave., Lakeside on Thursday, July 19th at 10:30 a.m.

  We extend our sympathies to Historical Society member, Doris Lengsdon, on the death of her husband, Sheldon McGinley, who passed away May 26, 2001.  Sheldon was born July 4th, 1925 in Pennsylvania. He served 16 years in the Coast Guard in WW2.  He and Doris were married in 1991.  Besides Doris, he is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son.
