"Many Hands, Many Minds, One Goal"
As 2007 comes to a close and I step down as President, I give a heartfelt thank you to each of you who gave time, talent and treasure to serve our organization.
My special thanks to fellow board members:
· Betty McMillin for continuing on as Program Chairman--as well as special meeting Caterer and Decorator, Building Preservation champion, and queen of Yard Sale fundraisers.
· Treasurer Gordon Shackelford for keeping the dollar signs and decimal points in line.
· Rec. Secretary Nita Padilla for documenting and making sense of our meeting discussions.
· Corres. Secretary Pennie McMahon for being a life-saver by responding to the mail and reservations.
· Parliamentarian Elaine Brack for keeping law and order in our organization.
Our volunteers and officers have given thousands of hours this year in support of the Lakeside Historical Society expanding our operation, reaching out to the community, interpreting and preserving the local history. Our work gloves have been molded by trying new things and our leadership buckets are full from many activities. Thank you for an outstanding job.
And thank you for the privilege of being your president. ~ Chris Herzog

Yard Sale Coming!
Once again the Lakeside Historical Society will be having our annual YARD SALE. While you are cleaning out your home or garage please save your treasures, junk and stuff for our yard sale. It will probably be held in the Spring.
Things that sell the best are dishes, tools, household items, furniture, pictures, lamps, collectibles and antiques. Clothes are hard to sell so we donate leftovers to Lakeside Christian Help Center.
Last year we had a huge sale and it was very successful, we made almost $3,000. So save you goodies for us!

Archives Nuggets
Elaine Brack, Archivist
The ladies who work in the Archives work very hard to gather information and place the information in the right places have been exceptionally busy over the last few months.
The Auto Speedway Centennial and the Heritage Day plus the fires have increased the information about our community a great deal. The research about Barney Oldfield, Olde Community Church, Lindo Park, Historical Society, the Inn and John Gay has increased the information not known until recently.
The Archives has received more photographs that have also been added to the family biographies; plus photos on many new histories not in our files. These pictorial donations to the Archives have helped greatly to improve the information about Lakeside. Thank you to everyone who have made have contributed donations, time in making the Archives more complete everyday.
If you are interested in volunteering with the Archives Gang, come on down to the History Center on Wednesdays from 10:00 - 2:00. If you only have a short time, come on down any way to join in the fun and become involved in the excitement when something new about the Lakeside community is found. Hope to see you!
