Garden "Adopt-a-Plot"
Betty McMillen

Just a gentle reminder that our garden plots need to be tidied up in preparation for our Spring blooming season.  We could use some more volunteers, if you could find the time to do some work in a small section of garden area, please call me at 443-1133.
Those who have signed up for this important beautification project are:
Wanda Walker, Lee Bost, Roxanne Smith, Barbara DeYoung, Irene Wood, Edna Kouns, Pat Ellwood, Gertrude Davis, Marnie and Bernie Santos, Barbara and Ray Witlock.

Restoration Continues
Betty McMillen

We are continuing to revitalize the Manse (our cottage occupied by the Chamber of Commerce.)  Our plan is to have the old broken concrete slab of the front porch removed.  We will have a new porch roof built and  a used brick floor installed.  This old fashioned style should look good with the old building. The landscaping will be refurbished too.

Bricks For Sale
Betty McMillen

You can have your family name or business name imprinted on the bricks that will decorate our landscape project on the Manse.  Yes, that's right, your name will be forever imprinted in our historic walkway for the world to see.  This will be a good memorial brick, anniversary commemoration, birthday or other special occasion too.  The price of having your message imprinted has not yet been determined.  But stay tuned, we should have more information in the next newsletter.

Thank You!
Betty McMillen

We would like to thank Sam Woods for chairing the committee that folds and mails your Historical Happenings newsletter each month.  Sam and his wife, Yrene, have decided to retire again and take some trips.  We are sorry that they will not be able to continue with this important project -- we're gonna miss them.  To our rescue, Roberta Callaway will be "stepping up to  bat" to make sure that the newsletters keep coming to you through rain, sleet and snow.  Thanks Roberta!  If anybody would like to be on our folding committee, we would love to have more hands.  Just call the History Center at 561-1886.  We meet once a month on Monday for two hours.

And, many thanks to Pat Ellwood for her help on this months edition of Historical Happenings!  RW
