ROBERT "BOB" EUGENE DeBURN, 81

  Bob was born in San Diego January 20, 1922.  He worked for Operating Engineer Local 12.  Bob served in the Nave and Coast Guard during World War II and the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the American Legion and the American Merchant Marines.  He died March 26, 2003.  Arrangements are with Paris-Frederick Mortuary.

NORA ANN DECKER-AMES, 81

  Nora was born in Cleveland, Ohio, February 7, 1922, and passed away on March 3, 2003.  She served in the Army during World War II.  She was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Lakeside Historical Society since 1986.  Nora was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
  Survivors include her husband Bayard; daughter Elizabeth Nora Nixon; sons Bayard, Alfred and Richard; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

FLORYNCE M. KLUKA, 87

  Word has been received from Spokane, Washington, that Florynce passed away at her home there on January 19, 2003.  She was born in Chicago April 16, 1915.  She attended North-Western University in Chicago and received he teaching degree from Laverne College.  Florynce taught school in both Alaska and California.  After retirement, she and her husband Joseph moved to Louisiana for five years, then returned to Lakeside, staying until 2001.  She was a Life Member of the Lakeside Historical Society.
  Her husband Joseph died in 1988.  Survivors include a son, Joel of Spokane, Washington; daughter Linnea M. Bell of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Barbecue Dinner

  The Optimist Men's Club will be kicking off the Western Days celebration with their BBQ dinner which will take place at the Rodeo Grounds Hall on Thursday, April 24th.  They will be serving Deep Pit BBQ beef, Bob Alvord's world famous beans (cooked in a big black kettle over open flames), cold slaw, rolls and a drink.  The bar will be open too.  Dinner tickets cost $8.00 and serving will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.  The Optimists Women's Club will be selling their delicious deserts too.
