Historical Church Painting Mary Allison, Church Painting Facilitator
How fortunate Lakeside is to have such a beautiful old Church right in he middle of town. The Lakeside Historical Society has done a fabulous job restoring it but, like anything else there is always up keep.
The Society had on it's schedule to have the church painted, which includes the store, Chamber of Commerce office, storage building and the stucco fence. This is no easy task and is quite expensive. The church needed hand washed, nicks and cracks repaired and then painted.
The Society contracted with Canady Painting, a home grown company, owned and operated by Beau Canady. Beau and his crew have been hard at work the past two weeks (were held up a few days because a BIG bee hive was in the bell tower and the attic) washing, repairing and finally painting. The church was due to be completed August 11, 2000.
Drive by and admire this old beautiful Historical building, the only one in Lakeside that holds a State of California, historical designation. Businesses in the community were informed that the church needed painting and donated toward defraying the cost to the Society, they are as follows:
Lakeside Land Company Bill Signs Trucking Company Alpine Rock and Block RCP Properties Barnmaster Marco Crane
And, generous members who also donated: Al and Mary Allison, Jan and Gordon Shackelford. High Reach donated the equipment to reach the high spots and Hanson Aggregate donated the paint.
More businesses have been contacted but at press time these folks have not responded, when they do we will be sure to advise you of who they are.
